2nd grade art gallery

whales whales whales!

2nd Grade has dived deep into the ocean these past two weeks and are working hard to create huge whales!  They are using Teamwork, Perseverance, sculpture techniques, and fun to create these big paper mache whales. They will be showcased at our June PBL showcase.

SNOW PEOPLE DOING EVERYDAY THINGS!

WE READ THE BOOK, "SNOWMEN AT NIGHT" - IT'S ABOUT A BOOK THAT FOLLOWS THE LIFE OF SNOWMEN AND WHAT THEY DO AT NIGHT. ALL THE THINGS THEY PLAY, DO, AND CREATE THAT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT.
2ND GRADERS CAME UP WITH THEIR OWN STORIES ABOUT WHAT THEIR SNOWPEOPLE COULD BE DOING, SUCH AS PLAYING FOOTBALL, SLEDDING, READING A BOOK, ETC.
WE ALSO LEARNED HOW TO SHADE AND BLEND PROPERLY WITH CHALK PASTELS TO CREATE THE ROUNDNESS OF THE SNOWBALLS.

perspective landscape pumpkin patches

We explored mixed-media after learning about landscape perspectives - foreground, middle ground and background. Sharpie, oil pastels and crayons with watercolor resist on top! These turned out so great!

SILHOUETTES of haunted houses - Cut paper over painted backgrounds

2nd grade learned from Nikki McClure's silhouettes and cut paper artwork to create haunted houses. We talked about the differences between warm and cool colors blending our paints to create a sunset night sky.

we are explorers

Students took their previous knowledge of blending with oil pastels to a new level, shading their space planets for their QAE Rocket Explorer art! They also learned about overlapping shapes to create space, and line design for their rockets.

lines and dots

Second Graders have been working with Lines, Shape, and Color.
After reading the book, "The Dot", we created our own mark and learned how to blend with Oil Pastels. They learned how to create a sphere by adding value and blending to a 2-dimentional circle.
