5th grade art gallery
african spirit masks
We started these during our Africa week. Students chose a spirt animal to represent them and designs to go with the mask. We talked about 3D vs 2D with design.
finished still life painting of fall forms - baseline assessment for 5th graders
dia de los meurtos - sugar skulls
Ms. Stone and I made 30 sugar skulls so the 5th graders to decorate them for Day of the Dead. They really enjoyed this activity and they turned out great! Check them out in the front of the Brick Building in our Oferenda, starting Monday, Nov. 3rd.
still life drawing of fall forms
5th graders are impressive! We looked at famous artist's artwork of still life, then attempted our own. We also are working with proper proportions, textures, color, and monochromatic color schemes. These are works in progress but are turning out amazing!
personality tree with the use of line
Students were asked to draw a tree - any tree - a tree that represents their personality, life, etc. They could design/draw it however they liked, then were told to add line designs and color if they wanted. They turned out incredible and so unique!
The 5th grade homeroom teacher, Mr. Bailey, had them write an artist statement about their tree.
