I am excited to be at Queen Anne Elementary! I am a National Board Certified (NBCT) visual art teacher and have taught grades seven through twelve. I enjoy watching my students grow creatively and become inspired by art and the artists and culture around them. I believe that every student can learn how to see the world differently through creating art.
I grew up in southwest Missouri's Ozarks. I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2004 and have been actively exploring it's mountains, waterways, and cities since. I love to hike, bike, kayak and backpack, which makes living in Washington so wonderful!
My Masters degree is from City University in Integrating Arts and Performance Learning Education. My undergraduate degree is from Drury University in Fine Arts, Psychology, and Education.
My love of travel has taken me to many places such as Central America, Scandinavia, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Fiji Islands, Hawaii, and Canada. I plan trips with students every other year, broadening our education and experiences.
In my free time, I enjoy using printmaking, painting, sewing, and mixed media in my own artwork and continue my own practices in other mediums. I also love to cook, read, and be outdoors.
